I adopted my dog Lucy in August 2006 through Dogs Without Borders (DWB) rescue. She was rescued from Taipei, Taiwan. She had been living at a veterinary office in a cage for six months before she was brought to the states through DWB. Apparently, her owners dropped her off and were nowhere to be found but the vets office knew she was a dog worth saving.

I originally thought I'd like to volunteer and foster a dog and found DWB on Craigslist. I got in touch with them and found out about their fostering program. I've never had a dog on my own and wanted to get my feet wet but wasn't sure if I was ready to have one of my own yet.

I'm so aware of all the homeless animals in this world and I wanted to do my part in helping as much as I can. I saw Lucy on the DWB website and instantly found her adorable and wanted to meet her.

Luckily, Lucy was at the adoption event and I got to meet her in person. I took her for a walk around the block and was amazed by how sweet, well behaved and smart she was.

I kept her for a week and I think in the back of my mind from the moment I met her I knew she was meant to be in my life forever. She's grown so much and come out of her shell since she has become my companion, she's learned how to trust people and I in turn have learned and grown from having her in my life as well.
